First of all i have heard these cards lift abit of strain of the cpu, ehich is a good thing.

I've heard that the first product doesnt have x-ram is this true?

well only a couple games fully utilize the xram on the x-fi. If you don't need the front panel and don't need the absolute best you will be very satisfied with just the extreme music. Save the extra 60 bucks or so and buy another game or save up for your next computer upgrade, or for a really nice set of speakers
