I originally thought I would, but I just can't justify it. $1000 for 2 more cores (4 threads) when I am already blowing everything away just can't push me over the edge to say I will buy it.

Im sure they will have a cheaper version to the chip.

OT: I will be waiting for it and then decide if I want to go i7 or i9.

again ?//// use the search function in the future
I don't understand why you would want to swap your Core i7 for a Core i9. Sure, there will be performance boost, but is it really worth it? Core i7's right now are already overkill. Look at how many applications use more than four cores these days.

I was thinking the same thing really....But if you based America's economy off of overclock.net you would swear we were not in a recession lol.

I find it funny how all this new tech is coming out like the 6 core i9 and DX11.
DX10 hasn't even caught on yet for one thing, and the only things that take advantage of i7's right now (or even just a quad core) are really just apps.
The i9 will be a great "coder" chip. People won't even see the lights of a game performance increase from it for a long time.
When it comes to the i9, I probably won' be getting one straight away. If they only release them as highly priced "Extreme Editions" I'll most likely wait a while for the revised version, as I recall Intel releaseing the i7 975 a few months after their i7 965.
im waiting to buy all the 965 + 975s off the used market

In a year or two Im thinking of either doing a completely new build or upgrade. Not sure which yet, at that time I will most likely get the i9 assuming something new hasnt come out along witha Dx11 GPU or two :)
i will be getitng one when they drop. looking forward to the unlocked multi.

I'll be considering their locked Gulftown editions or I will skip straight to Sandy Bridge.
By the time applications utilize 12 threads, your i9 will be as good as a Pentium 2 is today.
I wish I was able to afford the i7 for that matter.

@G|F.E.A.D.|Killa: I like the your sig bout the heated bumpers, that is so funny

Tis my intention to replace my sig rig next year and build off an i9 foundation.

I'll buy one ONLY if there was a $450~ Version

That's max for my processor budget.
