Out of what you mentioned, DVI-D and DisplayPort have the highest capable display ratings in terms of bandwidth and framerate. Your monitor must also match these ratings as some monitors do not fully support the cables and devices that can be plugged into them.
DVI-D does not include a sound channel, but DisplayPort and HDMI do. This is useful when using a TV with built in speakers or a multimedia receiver.
To display 120 Hz 3D, you need to use DisplayPort or Mini Displayport or Thunderbolt or DVI-D Dual Link or DVI-I Dual Link. You can't use an analog DVI to VGA adapter either.
