Why the hell is this game soo f'ing laggy? I play other games like L.A Noire, Alan Wake, Mafia 2, etc and they aren't laggy. Any ideas? I have to play on medium settings to get a playable frame rate.

This is my PC spec

AMD FX 8350
ASUS ASUS M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard
AMD HD Radeon 7950 3GB
16GB Corsair DDR3 RAM

GTA IV is a very bad console port. It is not even minimaly optomised for PC gaming. Being able to play it is a matter of luck. But it specificly doesnt liek AMD, be it a CPU or GPU

Because gta iv is an awful port. I have seen it to run like crap with super high end systems and then to run just fine with mid range systems.

Also you can try to oc a bit your cpu

CPU does not matter but ATI GPU does not work well with it. I use AMD with Nvidia and have no problems with GTA. I can advice the OP to install latest patch for GTA IV it fixes a lot of graphical problems and glitches.

Massive exaggeration. Not even close to true.

Most people here are right, though. It favors Intel and Nvidia and is extremely CPU dependent.

Works fine for me, however. I'm one of the few who actually got it to work with SLI so it's great.

I can run it with 50+ frames with everything maxed except for the shadow quality. When the shadows quality is on High it plays fine. When its on Very High I still get 40'ish frames, but its a studded fest.

That's on a 4.8ghz 3570K w/ a 7850 @ 1300/1500 with 8GB of ram.
