I downloaded the basic edition today and I got about a 1415 on my system.
I've got all my settings in ATI's Catalyst Control center set to the highest settings. Could that be why? Or is it just something wrong with my system.
I'm not overclocking my computer at all right now.

Definitely lower those settings to performance.

Without an overclock, and with settings lowered to performance, you should be able to pick up the score a little more...mid 2k range I imagine.

your video card does not support SM3. That really kills your score.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll check some things out tommorow, and let you know how things went.

Also what is SM3?

Shader Model 3.0, it is the newest shader model and only x18xx and 78xx series cards support it. Since your card does not have it the test is simply not run and that will lower your score by hundreds compared to other cards that do. For example in terms of 3dM06 score a 7800gs would absolutely crush your card because it has SM 3.0 but in real world game performance the two cards are fairly close.

3D Marks 06 is designed so that if you do not take the SM3/HDR tests your score is still comparable to computers that did run the SM3/HDR tests so it is now "killing your score"
