How big of a widescreen?

I find the good thing with a 'small' or 'normal' sized monitor (17" / 19") is that you can run native res without putting a big strain on your gpu.

I'd rather play at 1280x1024 native res with settings high, than 1600x1200 native, and have to lower other settings.

Well...I was looking at 20.1" widescreens, since I have a pretty powerful gpu that can handle most games at that resolution. But then I thought "I don't need that necessarily, my 19" crt does fine at the moment" So I can get a wii, and a few games, and have something new to enjoy...I mean after all I have a 20" flatscreen tv that I don't even use (crt flatscreen...not a flat panel)

lmao burn, yeah I know...but I've always had a thing for nintendos...I occasionally like to play a console..and the wii is something new, and I've been looking forward to it for a while.

If you're X1900XT is the 512mb version I would say get the widescreen. However, if you only have 256mb go for the Wii. The high res of a 20" and up will put a lot more stress on you're GPU, hindering your performance.

I have the 512mb x1900xt...but my 19" crt puts enough stress on it...in fact, a 20.1" widescreen would relieve the stress(smaller resolution: 1680x1050 vs 1600x1200)

I'd take the widescreen. Your computer is much more powerful and HD capable than the Wii. It's got a cool controler interface going for it, but the PC wins on most everything else.

Just whatever you do, don't get all impatient for the Wii and go bury yourself in the snow in the mountains to freeze yourself to avoid the ants in your pants! (South Park watchers will know where I'm coming from)

Seriously now, I would say go for the monitor.

This is a no-brainer to me. Getting a Wii adds the ability to play more games. Getting a new monitor does not. Unless your CRT is a crappy 15 incher or something, there is no looming reason to replace it.

For the record, I still use a CRT myself. Granted it's a 21 incher, but it's still a CRT.

There's not much sense [From a gamer's perspective] in downing the resolution from 1600 x 1200 to 1690 x 1050. Unless you desperately need to deskspace, get the Wii.
Yeah, I believe I am getting a wii...I might even hang out outside of walmart or something the day before launch( its not cold here)...just because I can

I'm going to call around and see if I can preorder one today.

I figured pc gaming is in a ditch right now....which sucks- look at my pc! and that I need to try something fresh(the wii) I haven't been able to wrap my mind around a game, and get really into it since I was like..15, and I want that back. the wii might give that to me...I'm almost certain it will

I vote save it. I don't really like widescreen monitors and the Wii will have a few revisions I'm sure

I vote for the Wii, but at the same time, my new E207WFP is VERY nice. Adds a whole new dimension from a 17" CRT.
