I am upgrading to 2x xfx 5850 Black edition cards, and I am going from a GTX 285.

Anyone have guess to weather I will be seeing a big improvement ?

Oh yes.
One 5850 is better than a single 285.
2x 5850's will murder your GTX 285.
Thats a great combo.
GL with it!

Awesome Thanks for the help, I was wondering about if this was a wise move or not.

What game made you feel the need to upgrade? My GTX280 still delivers everything I need for a 24" monitor, so I'm curious where yours is lagging? The 5850 cards look like monsters, but are you jumping the gun?

Well I had a lot of extra money, and I felt like giving ATI a shot. So I went ahead and bought them.

I just like trying new things if you must know.

I did, but the 2 5850 BE's are higher performance then 1 5970.

No. That's 2 5870's. 2 5850's in CF is slower then a single 5970. I'll find you the benchmarks if needed.

have a look at some of these reviews. This card has massive potential with better drivers + an overclock. One of them takes it to near 5870 speeds on stock voltage.

Its up to you. This card is just fascinating me right now.

Exactly, that 5970 is a beast. Even beats 5870 CF in some cases. It's an all around amazing card.
