I recently traded my gtx 460 and received an EVGA 8600GTS single-slot.

My main card will be an XFX 5870 with a very hefty overclock, while the 8600 will also have an overclock, just not to the same extent.

So, my question is, will my 8600GTS suffice as a dedicated Physx processor, or should I upgrade it to an 8800GT/GT430?

Why didn't you just use the 460 for physx?

Dude ... I think we need to have a little talk about your negotiating skills

Seriously though, an 8600GTS for physX is probably okay for some of the older physX titles like Mirrors Edge, but it'll crumble if you try using it for something heavy-duty like Mafia 2.

Also, my board benefits from using AMD graphics cards.

SLI HACK LOL

but anyway....

it will still take the load of the CPU since ATI cards can't do physx at all

@brettjv - I thought it was a good trade. =]
For my gtx 460 oem I got...
- x2 WD SE 16 250GB's
- evga 8600gts
- $160

How would it work in Bad Company 2? That's what I play the most.

@hodgoes2001

SLI Hack doesn't work on my motherboard with GTX 460's. I tried.

Anyway, I meant hybrid crossfire. lol

bad co 2 doesn't use physx, the 8600 isn't powerful enough, and gpu physx isn't worth the trouble anyways since the few games that use it are the kind you spend 10 hours on and then dump
