So , tomorrow my gtx480 along with a new power supply from overclockers.co.uk should come .

Anyways , my question is will my cpu (sig rig) bottleneck it so much ?

I'll be playing mafia II , crysis , assassin's creed , gtaiv and maybe some more . Also , my motherboard only has one PCI-E X16 . Not 2.0 X16 . How much of a fps drop should i see ?

I don't think i'm gonna upgrade till SB-E or IB , so just asking what should I expect ..

Expect a bottleneck of mass proportions. D: Your CPU is about the same thing as an Athlon 64 X2 at the same speed. No lie. In short, yes, your CPU will be destroyed by that GPU. >.<

Upgrade it to something more recent. Seriously. Any i7 will do actually. ^^

For one, you will see a massive boost when compared to the 9800GT

You will probably see some performance decrease when compared to a virtual SB due to the low-cache dual core CPU in shooters, maybe a bit more in strategy games & GTA4; the PCIe doesn't bottleneck the card (Nvidia cards are very resilient to lower-than-PCIe2.0x16).

You will see bottlenecks, but what can you do? You already said you don't want to upgrade now.

Play at high resolutions, like Abs.exe said.

He's not saying that the bottleneck will completely disappear, but it'll be less noticeable at higher resolutions, though I guess that's questionable with an E5400...

Yes, and i dont think there will be as much of a bottleneck as these other people make it seem. You do not need an i7 to max out a 480 unless you are playing a very cpu dependent game. and gaming at your res will work the gpu pretty hard.

Just overclock your cpu as much as you can and you will be good, bottlenecks are not as prevalent as everyone makes them out to be

yes but as its only a duel core and your not gonna be playing at 1920x1080 the bottleneck will still be there. personally if you don't want to upgrade to SB or 1366 now i would suggest maybe getting a better monitor or even getting a quadcore 775 cpu for now...

definitely upgrade if you can, my q6600 at 3.4 cant keep up with my 460 in most games(bad company 2, counter strike source, call of duty black ops,civ 5). Or just do what i did and pile on the AA until the gpu reads 99%

On average without AA, most games read about 80%gpu usage through afterburner.

2nd edit: in class now but when I get out id be glad to throw some numbers at you.

His CPU is from 2009 (maybe 2008) and it's not a bad dual core chip at all.

I know it's not the fastest thing around, but it's not like it's a Pentium D or something.

It's a stripped down Core 2 Duo.

well in terms of single threaded performance an e5x00 @ 4 ghz matches a stock i7 920 iirc

edit:you really trust that psu you got there with a 480

Yeah exactly.. the newest thing out there is not always the solution for everyone.
Although, it would be nice if you buy a new sb/ib in the future and then you won't have to worry at all!
