I don't see you have any problems with this. If anything you have ample headroom. See below for requirements:
Minimum RequirementsOS: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit
Processor: 2GHz dual-core (Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz or Athlon X2 2.7GHz)
Memory: 2GB RAM
Hard drive: 20GB
Graphics card AMD: DirectX 10.1 compatible with 512MB RAM (ATI Radeon HD 3000, 4000, 5000 or 6000 series, with ATI Radeon HD 3870 or higher performance)
Graphics card Nvidia: DirectX 10.0 compatible with 512MB RAM (Nvidia GeForce 8, 9, 200, 300, 400 or 500 series with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher performance)
Sound card: DirectX compatible
Keyboard and mouse
DVD-ROM drive

Recommended SpecificationsOS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core CPU
Memory: 4GB RAM
Hard drive: 20GB
Graphics card: DirectX 11-compatible with 1GB of RAM (Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950)
Sound card: DirectX compatible

DVD-ROM drive

Probably can run this and then some in the background.

I don't think you'll have any problem running it maxed. But I'm pretty sure you will be able to max out Quake 3 Arena.

You should be able too.

However you may come some troubles running everything on Ultra if you don't have a 3GB card. (vram bottleneck)

Although, you might try OCing your card when you may or if you need it..

What's your definition of "handling" it? 60fps minimum? Average?

Maybe. People are averaging well above 60fps on ultra settings in the beta, I'm not convinced that the beta's ultra settings are representative of the absolute best that BF3 can do, especially since we haven't seen the Campaign.

the beta has lower graphics. But dice has stated that you need 2 580s to max. I think you will go high but to literally MAX everything, I dont think so.

I hit 1.5GB - 1.6GB on.the Battlefield 3 Beta, Crysis 2 is 1.8-1.9 at 1080p. So yeah.

Pretty sure BF3 beta ultra and actual release ultra are different. I've heard they dont have the ultra settings enabled until release, so you're probably only playing on high settings.

Also heard about the expensive SLI setup needed to max it, as someone mentioned before.

You're fine with Single GTX 580 with 1080p and even on 1440p+ But will get low like 33FPS at some point.

If it is over 1080p, you would likely to have it SLI setup.

Your monitor is at 1920 x 1200... on 28"... I hope this is a TV type sit far away. Because those pixel will look ugly huge to me.

I also have seen VRAM usage of at least 1.5gb on Ultra 1080p as well.
