I'm trying to build a new system but the prices for DDR2 RAM now are INSANE!! Think the prices will come down in the next few weeks?

I hope they do but I'm not going to hold my breath.
Nope. Since DDR2 is being phased out, and less companies are producing it, it's not going back down

Really? So it might just be cheaper to buy a DDR3 board then I guess.

I doubt ram will ever be as cheap as ddr2 was when it was at its lowest. The manufacturers for ram oversaturated the market and were selling them at a loss. Every manufacturer suffered as a result. The market has corrected itself and ram prices are closer to what they should be. So in actuality, your question should read, "the prices for DDR2 RAM were INSANE!! When will they go back to being insane?" and that would be nice for us, but not nice for the manufacturers.

Yes. Soon the DDR3 and DDR2 prices will meet. DDR3 is already pretty damn low all things considered.

Solution: Build with DDR3. DDR3 is faster, around the same price, and more current.
Go AM3/1156/1366

Thank goodness I went i7! But DDR3 prices are not exactly..."cheap" either.
Why are you building a new system using DDR2?

Go with DDR3.
