Remember the amazing variety and quality we had in games already at PS2's release, and close to it? We had everything from Tekken Tag/Dead or Alive 2 and Klonoa, to SSX and Dark Cloud, to Silent Hill 2 and Final Fantasy X. (obviously not going to mention all great games)

So far we've only seen action titles being release titles for PS4, which does make me a bit worried. But what does keep my hopes up, is the fact that PS4 is apparently super easy to develop for, which PS2 also was. This means that, hopefully, we will get more games early. Which in turn highers the chances of variety and quality already early in PS4's lifecycle.

What are your thoughts?

They aren't making enough decent RPG games for consoles anymore. I'd like to see more RPGs across the board for the next gen of consoles. I'm bored with FPS and action games. And if that is most of what they are gonna be shoveling out then I'm probably not even gonna buy a next gen console. Those games are better on PC anyway. Its the console exclusive RPGs that I want to see more of.

I don't think we'll ever see that kind of launch again. The reason is that the barrier to making a game is so much higher now, in terms of cost. Good games require far more developers and artists than they did in the past with the focus on real time, super AI, amazing graphics, immersive environment.

That means every game is a calculated risk, and the focus will be on the genres that are most popular, which are FPS and action games now :\

I'm looking for next-gen iterations of: Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid (of course), Tomb Raider (like the original, not a Call of Duty/QTE/rail shooter!), Resident Evil (originated on the PlayStation), Jak & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank, Killzone, Final Fantasy, Lair, Heavenly Sword, God of War, Virtua Fighter, Tekken, Kingdom Hearts, Twisted Metal, Soul Calibur, Primal Rage, and Killer instinct 3!

I don't know, the PS3's library did seem quite dull and boring compared to the incredible lineup that the PS2 had.

with the new landscape of micro transactions and dlc, there is no way we are going back to the heyday of the PS2...i never once had to buy an addon for any ps2 game...

thats back when they released full games for the price you paid once.

Not much until MS reveals their cards.

PS2 era was good, but what I miss most is games like Bushido Blade 1 & 2. It was like the Demon/Dark Souls difficulty for fighting games yet hilarious at the same time.
