Will this be a major improvement?

OK, there is this in the Online Deals section:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...ss_T15_product

and it's a steal at $30. However, I have an Audigy 2 zs Platinum at the moment, and I'm liking the sound pretty well. But for that price, I'm willing to upgrade, but only if it is worth it. I asked in that thread, but no one replied to me, so I figured I'd start a new thread.

Thanks in advance, and I'm not just looking for someone to say "Yes it will.". Hopefully, someone with a similar situation will reply, or someone can link me to an article that compares the two cards.

Hard to say, because sound is different for everyone.

I honestly would say to buy it for 30$ though, you can always use it in a spare computer, or you can give it as a gift if it is not to your liking (if you plan to gift it after, take extra care in opening the package).

Well, I do game a lot on my system; Crysis, World in Conflict, Dawn of War, and others. But I also listen to a crap load of music, and love blasting it on my z-5300's.

Yeah, for $30, it's just begging me to buy it...heh...plus it's my birthday today so...I might just have to pull the trigger.

Actually, the fact that the X-fi XtremeMusic is PCI is a good selling point for me. That way, I can just put it where the Audigy used to be.

the xtreme music isn't an actual X-FI chip, but a lesser one, and I thought an audigy 2. So I don't think you will see much of an improvement if any at all.. I'd save up and get the asus xonar, or else an X-FI Gamer.

Edit: ..or was the xtreme audio the one with the lesser chip?
all these different models..
Anyways, if it's the good one, get it, if it's the bad one, don't

The Xtememusic is a real X-Fi, I think it's the Xtremeaudio thats the relabeled Audigy.

I think the XtremeMusic is well worth $30. I paid £70 (~130) for mine a year or so ago and I think it's good for that price.

Well, I already ordered the X-fi, but if you'd point me in a direction of where I could find what you're suggesting for $30, I'll definitely have a look see.

I wouldn't of gotten the X-Fi...

On mine I notice barely any improvement from onboard, at least until I did the cap filtering mod.
