Everyones been telling me a clean install is all you can do. I'm cool with that, so I back up all my stuff on my laptop, which took 5 hours. then installed.
Windows.old file with all my old stuff I didn't back up, right in it.
Well if you have windows xp, then you have to do a clean install. But if you have vista, you can do an upgrade. I think, when most people do an install, they have the installer wipe the disk clean before installing... which would erase all files. But if you just select a drive with data on it, and hit install without telling it to erase the disk, it'll put it all in a file.

Why the hell did I do all that backing up?
If your power went out during an upgrade I think you would lose it all.
