Windows 7 Installation Help!!!!!!

786 Views 16 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  shuaib
When trying to install Windows 7 7048, early in the installation a dialog box appears stating the following,

Quote:

''A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now.

Note: If the windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this
step."

If someone can help me get round this one, I'll greatly appreciate it. REP+

it sounds like it's having issues detecting your DVD drive.

do you have another drive you could use?

Maybe you have a webcam or some peripheral device plugged into your PC which it doesnt recognise, try installing with just the power cable/gpu cable/keyboard/mouse/ethernet cable. If that dont work then yeah try another drive.

maybe you could try reburning the disc, at the slowest speed possible on your drive, and then verifying the data after it's been burnt - maybe it didn't burn correctly and it's showing up by doing this?

Is your power cable for the drive and data cable plugged in correctly?

When it asks for it, insert the disc with the drivers that came with your mobo, if it finds the right drivers you can re-insert your win7 cd and continue installation.

Obviously it's connected properly since he can get to the win7 install.

The optical drive could be outdated, what drive do you have?

That drive is 5+ years old, no wonder. Try changing the optical drive and then try again.

It does read the CD as it boots up the Win 7 installation, then after a few mins into the installation the message appears.

And what difference would a different/new DVD drive make as I installed Vista x64 on the same DVD drive
