Windows 7 RC set for May lift-off

To help push Microsoft through the recession, expunge memories of Vista, conquer the netbook market, improve PC users' lives in general or, who knows -think positive, people - maybe all of the above, Windows 7 continues its hectic schedule toward launch.
The Windows 7 Center blog reports that the Release Candidate (RC) version of Microsoft's new OS -its dress rehearsal edition, and the last stop before a commercial build goes to PC makers - is now due in late May.

The blog's lead - a translated Russian post - seems hairy.

But the W7 Center is part of a close-knit set of blogs keeping an eye on Windows developments. So far, they've proved accurate with their various leaked screen shots, including the scoop that the new OS will let users switch off IE 8

Ugh I hope they just give a date and stick with it. I've heard reports of it being released between June and December. Hopefully they arent using this time to gut the OS and add un needed shine :/
*fingers crossed*

I've been looking for a change of scenery. I used Vista for about 4 months then went back to XP and I'm growing tired of it too.
Well, Vista RC1 was released in September 06 then retail was released in January 07.

So if it takes the same amount of time for Seven to go retail then it'll be released in August - September.

It shouldn't though. 7 is based on Vista so the bugs (if any) should be delt with sooner.

I am hoping for a summer release. I want Windows 7!! I also want Snow-Leopard for my Mac. Both these OS's better be priced reasonably.
this is good. I will run win7 on my main rig and put this copy of xp pro on my daughter's rig (Greenie-poo project linked in sig). Until then she'll be using win 7 beta
I got windows 7 on my laptop and it runs as fast or not faster then xp and tons more stable.
i thought they had confirmed it to be april 10th...
