Windows explorer keeps crashing

I put Windows XP Pro 32-bit on a budget computer that I just built for a friend.

Everything installed fine and dandy, no problems whatsoever.
HowEVER.....

When I install the video card driver and restart the computer:
Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Send Error Report | Don't Send

I click don't send, as always, and Windows Explorer shuts down, taskbar and all. About 3 seconds later, it will reappear again followed by the same error message. I system restored back to before the driver and all was well, then I downloaded the driver from a different source. Same problem.

Ideas??

System:
NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS video card
2GB memory
AMD Athlon 64X2 5200+ processor
BIOSTAR A770 mobo

I do have firefox installed. I was talking about Windows Explorer, not Windows Internet Explorer.

Well have you tried to Reinstall the whole OS not just revert back to where you were before?

Well that is my last ditch effort, but I don't want to do that if there is some fix that I don't know about. You know? because what if it all just happens again?

Well it seems you've concluded it to be the graphics driver based on what you've said. just try a different version driver for the same card.

Ok so I've checked that I now have all the Windows Updates as well ast the latest drivers for my motherboard.

The problem still persists. Do you guys know where I could find an earlier version of my graphics card driver? I'll try that next and if that doesnt work I'm going to have to try to repair XP/reinstall.
You can find different drivers here
