Not often I ask for help, but here it is, maybe theres a Windows Guru out there that could lend a hand.

I am looking for a way to turn off windows gadgets when I launch certain software, and upon that software exit, turn the gadgets back on. Similar to how disabling the windows composition to turn off Aero works.

If you know of a trick or perhaps a batch file that I could put together it would be very helpful... I figure I could just kill the sidebar process but again, I don't know of a good way to restart it. TIA!

edit: try:

TASKKILL /F /IM "notepad.exe" (replace notepad with the name of the process)
START "C:/Program Files/game.exe" (replace path with path of the game .exe you want to run

then just put a shortcut for the sidebar on your desktop

Its cool thanks man, did some research and found it, so that does work... what I wanted to see was if I killed the sidebar.exe if I benched any better, and the answer is yep, so I gatta figure that all meh games are going to have a benefit as well with running both composition off and gadgets display temp off. Looks like view gadgets brings it right back up too, very handy.
