The "Found New Hardware" bubble comes up when windows starts. it says "Audio Device on High Definition Bus".

I tried to install my Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI card today. It did the same thing every time I booted up, so I took it out, went back to onboard, uninstalled drivers, re-installed onboard drivers.

The device manager has a yellow question mark.

The onboard card is listed in audio devices and it works fine. I'm listening to music right now.

How do I get windows to stop thinking there is an audio device plugged in?

Try:
Run->Devmgmt.msc->Sound, video and game controllers->
Have a look for any yellow exclamation marks, and try looking at the properties of HD Audio. If all else fails update drivers...
Let me know if this helps...
