The "Found New Hardware" bubble comes up when windows starts. it says "Audio Device on High Definition Bus".

I tried to install my Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 PCI card today. It did the same thing every time I booted up, so I took it out, went back to onboard, uninstalled drivers, re-installed onboard drivers.

The device manager has a yellow question mark.

The onboard card is listed in audio devices and it works fine. I'm listening to music right now.

How do I get windows to stop thinking there is an audio device plugged in?

Try:
Run->Devmgmt.msc->Sound, video and game controllers->
Have a look for any yellow exclamation marks, and try looking at the properties of HD Audio. If all else fails update drivers...

ive had this happen before, and the trick for me was to reinstall video card drivers. im think it was for like audio through the video card for like htpc's or something
