Try a complete reinstall of your OS or just repair it. Then try the update.

Ok, Windows update has failed update KB953297 several time. I even dug around the website and found the actual update file for it. It's something to do with .Netframework 1.1 or something.
This is what I'm seeing:

The last image makes me wonder the most. Any suggesting as to what update is missing that it can't update? I get the impression this is a pretty important update. Plus rep for help

I was afraid some one might say that? I was hoping there was a work around. I have reinstalled my OS due to Win update failures before too. Its running fine I might add, just that update won't take, and I don't know why.
