Just installed win 7 32-bit home premium on a fresh build and now it will not search for updates. Any clues? I haven't installed any other programs either. All other computers I have reformated, etc... here lately have had around 100 this one after you click search updates comes back and says "windows cannot search for updates". Thanks in advance.

Stupid question, but is the PC connected to the network?

Yes its connected to the network and no it doesn't say anything about a service not running. It'll start its search for updates for maybe a minute then say windows cannot search for updates.

You can try Fix It. http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/

Try restarting the Windows Update service and see if that works. Also you may want to check Event Viewer to see if it sheds any light on the issue.
