What does everyone think, is it going to be worth it or will it be to bug-ridden and a resouce hog?

it wont be either,
it will work fine on what we have(i use the betas on my computers)
and as for bugs, probably a few, but they (LIKE ANY OTHER OS) will get them worked out eventually.
(btw, there are other posts on this if you need more info
)

It's Microsoft. It'll be rushed, and there will be security update after security update for months and years to come...
Still, kinda worth it for DX10 Graphics, after they iron it all out and prices fall a a tad that is
Yea...thats a good point dx10 is a good enough reason to get it.

ok thanks
Ill just wait for the official version to come out then steal
it off a mate.
kahuna, you have no clue what your taking about, this hasn't been rushed in the least. do some research, its been in production since XP was launched, just like windows vienna will be started once vista launchs
vienna development has already started. its called blackcomb now though

its supposed to be all 'woo new infathomable interface' and 'super uncrackable security'

hackers got through vista - the unhackable - in a couple days
Other way around, Blackcomb is now called Vienna.
is it? i thought i used to be called vienna :withstupi

Why dont microsoft keep the cool codenames? like Vista - what is that?! I prefered longhorn. And Windows XP.....Windows Whistler. The codenames are usually much better, i think anyway
lol, i dont think, "longhorn" would be a respected name,lo
lol - it sounds better than vista though....even if it is a sexual innuendo
i think their codenames suck too. Whistler, Longhorn, Chicago, Memphis, Cairo, why would they keep those? Windows Emerald 2005. Thats sounds terrible. Certainly no Leopard, Tiger, Panther, Jaguar, Cheetah, or Puma.
The whole name thing (xp etc) started off with NT. Why oh why did they start that? they couldnt of just called it Windows Network Edition 4 or something

Windows 2001 is better than XP (where did they get XP from?!)
Windows 2006 sounds better than Vista

I think microsoft is going to loose ALOT of market share because of vista. The min specs so far are waaay to high for the average user.
Somewhere around 75% of Windows installs are OEM, so they will meet the requirements. Microsoft will have a problem on their hands when Average Joe finds out that he can't play his movie on his new computer because he doesn't have an HDCP cable/graphics card/monitor and it'll be a 1000 dollar expense for it all to work and then he goes on Overclock.net and finds out that Windows Vista did it. Then he'll tell all of his friends who in turn will buy a mac. : )
given time and resources, anything can be cracked. this OS will have it's shares of bugs and patches just like the others before it.

or they'll run linux on their 1000 dollar rigs

selectdude, i agree with the first part, but HDCP WILL NOT BE A REQ TO DO ANYTHING, quote me on that.
quit it with your bias.
(XP came from the word "eXPerience", as on the box, and eXtended Personal, or somthing like that)
