I have Ubuntu 10.10 with updated Nvidia drivers(270.29) i can play cod4 at avg 40 fps. i wish to play with atleast 100 fps(W7 i get 250+) i read some stuff about editing the registry under wine/direct3d but i do not have this in the registry.
Do i need to install DirectX on wine or does it come with it?
Also can anyone explain my poor fps(and possibly how to fix)?

Blame it on poor linux drivers and the DirectX -> OpenGL conversion. You're just not going to get optimal performance in WINE.

You want to create the DirectDrawRenderer string under the location it says. You might have to create the Direct3D key, set it to opengl and it should help. If it doesn't then just change in game settings.
