Im building a new machine and debating on the following setups:

1. (The normal way). Buy a wireless N300 or AC PCIe card. Connect to my (currently wireless N but soon to be AC) router for internet.

2. Buy a wireless N300 or AC Access Point and then run a short gigabit ethernet cord from the AP to the port on my new computers mobo. Run it in client mode and find one with gigabit ports.

Price is about the same - I may eventually add an NAS so the advantage of option 2 is that I could also connect the NAS to the AP? (Although they would obviously be then sharing bandwith)

Am I going to see higher latency and less throughput when using the AP in client mode compared to using a pcie wireless adapter directly?
