I bought myself a wireless adapter (Dlink DWL-52) for my opteron rig. The router is directly above the computer on the floor right above me. The problem I'm having is that as soon as I log on to windows, the wireless adapter doesnt connect. It says connected, but i cannot sign in to MSN, Xfire, or browse the internet. I have to disable it, then enable it for it to work. Is there a setting I'm missing or something?

Go to TCP/IP setting in the properties of the wireless connection, and set all the IP's yourself. That always worked for me. If you need help with this contact me on aim.

zlotman2 is the aim

The internet worked when using Static IP, but then I tried restarting the PC, still can't browse/use the internet until i disable and enable it again. Weirdest part is, the icon says "Connection enabled, Strength Excellent"...so i try opening firefox, nope...xfire/aim/msn...nope...?

[edit]

Worked fine on this reboot, connected right away. Looks like a hit or miss problem.

If the wireless card came with software, check that it does not try to connect while windows is also trying to connect. They might be interfering and creating this problem. Also, just because it says its connected and strength is excellent, that is solely the connection to the router. If the router is not properly connecting to the internet modem itself(Like dsl has one with the 4 lights), it can cause this problem. Other than that check for drivers.
