Wireless speed issues - Asus Wl-138g v2

Hey all,

My brand new wireless card (as mentioned above) is having major LAN speed issues.
Internet speeds seem to be pretty fast (system isnt used for internet much though) but the LAN speeds are....well tiny.

It is currently connected to the router at 54Mb/s (link speed) has ~20% of network utilisation but is transferring at 431KB/s - giving me a ETA of about 1 day for the 18.4gb being transfered

This dosent sound right.....

Mine, brothers, fathers and family computers all have good LAN speeds but this gaming system doesnt.....connected via the Asus card or even one of the Netgear USB wifi dongles

It is now running Windows 7 7048 build as is 1 of the laptops (the other is 7000) and i installed vista also to test but it has the same slow speeds with wither the USB or PCI adapters

Can anyone give me some guidance on this weird issue......

thanks

Do you have the latest firmware on your router? That fixes a lot of problems. Also, you can try downloading and installing the latest drivers from Asus website.

I have tried the latest drivers (and the ones that auto installed with vista/windows 7) and didnt help
For some reason i canot seem to be able to update the routers firmware.....i'll keep trying though

I jsut find it weird that every other computer works and this one dosent - the USB netgear thing is one of 2 - that other is working perfectly on another computer.....????
well i've been transfering the opensusedvd.iso to my laptop through the asus wireless card and i can say that it seems fine 2-3mb/s.. im not sure if its the maximum.. but its fine for me.. i dont use LAN for file transfer
hmm....

Just tried making an adhoc network between laptop and gaming system and still wads lsow - i donwloaded a file this morning that wasnt corrupt though

Internet is slow on it now......
Still got some more things i could try - and then i'll strip systme to barebones and see what happends (got 6HDDs hanging out of it atm...)
