I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop with the monitor broken off that my gf gave me a while ago. Since it really has no use, I decided to make something cool out of it. Any awesome suggestions for home-made cases or projects that I could do?
Any creative ideas would be appreciated and I really want to do something cool with this

Sorry if this is in the wrong section

Everything's working well. Just played some UT and it's pretty awesome. Only thing that bothers me is how hot the heatpipe around the gpu gets. I might take take off the pointless pad that was on it and apply some thermal paste, Im sure it'd make a big difference

IMO - If you are going to hang it on the wall, you should make it "prettier"

Mount it on some acrylic or a wood box with some interesting lighting and possible an extra fan. Route the cables behind the drywall. Maybe lit from behind with led's so it glows on the wall. There are a hundred ways to dress it up to make it more of a piece of art on the wall while remaining functional.

So what are you planning on using it for? 24/7 folding rig perhaps?

Yeah, I'm going to make it prettier when I find/get all the right materials. I just had to mount it with what I had right now

And thats a good idea, sucks the cables that attached the wlan card were ripped...but I have a usb dongle laying around somewhere, now I just have to find it.
I was also considering keeping it functional but also turning it into a clock. Im still thinking how to do that. I guess we'll see

I dont know how I'd make it though....time to get creative.
Just found some acrylic, so I'm about to make some base out of that.

How are what?
As for the board being exposed, I'm not really worried about it. Worst case scenario is I'm gonna have to dust it off every once in a while. It won't be a biggie if it breaks either
