I had to do a computer related project for class, so I chose to submerge a computer in vegetable oil. Everything went well, and I decided to try to run the cpu without its heatsink. It continued to to run well, and my only type of stress test was to play UT 2004. I played for 2 hours and it never crashed. I will be bringing in core temp, the thermometer that goes in the turkey while it is in the oven to test the oil temperature, and prime95 on Monday to test it, along with a camera for better pictures. Here are some pictures.
Very nice, if i was your teacher A+++, nice work, perhaps add a cover the the top of the tank to mount your other parts, and a little prop or something to get some current in the oil and your set.
i have a top which i have screwed the dvd and hdd down to. it is just partially off in the picture.
you can get the oil just about anywhere. I got it for 6.50 a gallon at Smart and Final. It is just 5 gallons of pure vegetable oil.
Edit: mineral oil is $20 a gallon instead of $6.50. This is just a temporary project. If i do my actual computer I would pay the extra for mineral oil.

That's pretty cool. I was going to try this with one of my old rig's but never got the time and I didn't feel like trying to clean the thing off when I was done lol.
