I'm trying to decide if going from my X3 425 @ 3.7Ghz is worth going to either a I5 750 or I7 920. I'm trying to decide if it's worth my time. It will be together with a HD 5850 soon. What do you guys think?

An upgrade to the i7 would be a nice one, but you also have to add the cost of an LGA1336 motherboard.

I know I'll need new motherboard and ram. But I'm trying to see if the performance is worth the upgrade with the single HD5850. Budget is 500ish for MOBO/CPU/RAM.

I say meh.

I'm looking towards just sticking with what I have I guess and waiting till I need to upgrade.

What you could do is to maybe upgrade your video card to a Radeon HD5770 for example and maybe get a bigger screen and then save the rest for later.

No, it's easy.

But, don't expect to get a CPU cooler.

I already have a Cooler Master V8. Might sell it for a H50.
