So i have 4Gb and a 64 bit OS. I have currently got a bit of cash courtesy of the UK government and was considering getting some more RAMz.
I use my PC for the usual stuff (Gaming, Office, Music, Web Browsing, Photo/Video Editing) but I also Fold and use my PC as a File/Web/Music/Print Server.
I currently have 4Gb of OCZ 1066MHz RAM and can pick up 4 more for £43. My question to you is, is it worth it?
I edit videos and I am planning on getting another 4GB. Many times I've run out of physical RAM while having just AAE and Vegas open (RAM previews are a ***** sometimes).
If you are willing to lower your OC if needed, then go ahead (more modules will strain the NB etc.). And I doubt you will notice any performance increase at all.
For the price of it nowadays yes I'd get some more. You won't notice any real speed difference but you'll have the ability to open apps left right an centre, edit etc without getting short of ram. Plus you can virtualy dissable your page file if you like although I wouldn't recomended that. Even with 8GB myself I still have a 5GB page file

I used to have 4x512Mb sticks at my old overclock which was higher than now.
Will the fact that i'll have 4x more RAM matter? Or is it just how many sticks not how much RAM?
If the price seems good to you get it, so yes worth it. Do you need it. I really doubt you need it. Even with most photo shop I say no. You working with a huge database? Maybe.
The thread is over a month old... he won't be checking it.
I guess common sense lost? I only worry "true love" might also lose. Princess bride if any of you don't know the importance of "True Love". And by transference "Common Sense".
i'm using vista right now.since i have 4 gigs of memory,i thought that i don't need virtual memory and turned it off. yesterday i received a low memory error while playing STALKER:Clear Sky. So 4gigs aren't enough for an enthusiast user. minimum 6 is required on vista if you don't want to be disturbed by low memory problems. 8 gb however would an investment for future operating systems and games.
