Just for maintenance purposes.

I have no problems in my system right now, just a bit of lag when booting, so I was thinking about doing this.

All my files are backed up and I have all the installation disks of my software in DVD's

So, what do you think about it?

It won't hurt nothing?

When was the last time you did a fresh install.

July 2008...

I had serious problems with vista so I made a fresh install of everything.

I would have to de-overclock my system but the configuration is saved in the BIOS, so once I finish installing and updating, I can re-overclock the CPU and RAM, right?

Yes. It is a good idea to do a fresh install/reformat as often as you can. In my case, I usually update hdd or mobo often enough, so it gets done on its own.

Man I reformat every 2 weeks or so usually. I am also pretty paranoid and deal with questionable files every second of every day so it is kinda justified. I have alot to lose if I happened to find myself keylogged or similar.

Not really a hassle. I don't mind formatting.

Well, it seems to be that my sig rig is infected with some weird virus so a reformat will be necessary (It can't connect top any wireless network
)

So, once I reformat the drives... and install the OS, what should I install first? the antivirus-internet security suite and the drivers later or, drivers first, antivirus later? of course, the rig will be disconnected from the internet when doing this

Drivers first, then AV, then internet.

I'm up and running again.

I just formatted my hard drives and reinstalled VIsta... It feels fast by now.

I'll install the updates tomorrow, but so far everything looks great
