Quite a bit of rough stuff was bandied about in one of the final Supreme Court decisions of the term released last month â€" dismembering, bondage, decapitation, a bounty of bloodletting in video games that bring the thrill of the kill to new levels. No problem there, in the view of the court: for children who want to simulate brutal homicide, it’s protected free speech.

Sex, not so good. Naked women. Naked men. Fornication. Ewww! The black-robed majority made it clear that the United States of America will always make an exception for sex: “historically unprotected speech,†in the words of Justice Antonin Scalia, who wrote the 7-2 video game opinion.

I find it interesting how sensitive we are to sex, considering how much we accept violence.

The porno industry should start making full blown porno games for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

I guess violence can be policed to a certain extent, and more violence leads to less people to manage.

Sex on the other hand can't be policed, and more of it leads to population explosion

Bass-Ackwards if you ask me - but what do i know! Its always struck me as weird that behavior which is completely socially unacceptable is championed in games while sex/nudity which is completely acceptable (privately) is shunned. Personally I've never understood how the depiction of a naked body could harm children but maybe I'm just naive

I just find it funny how cutting body parts up like in the Saw movies is accepted, yet boobs are forbidden.

Oh the world we live in..

Not to mention we parole murderers and violent criminals to make room for all the drug users and distributors in our prisons. This species has little hope.

The government can control exposure to sexual content but can't punish you for being a sex addict which could cause the family model to deteriorate. Violence on the other hand is punishable by the law so as long as you the citizen knows that, they could care less what violent crap you watch.

edit: oh i see im not the only one who thinks that. Basically, don't underestimate how smart the gov is.

Actually murderers are the lowest for reoffence, thats coming from a parole officer....not me, my mother. Other violent crimes are a different story.

Although I agree, out of the two, I could care less if drug users and distributors are in or out so long as they don't push anything my way.

That's what's always pissed me off about this country. We accept violence with open arms, yet our society frowns upon sex, one of the most natural human experiences up there with breathing and eating. I guess because this country was founded by religious pilgrims we have that stigma towards sex.
