I want to get an X-Fi soundcard, but with the amount of RAM I have, I don't need the 64MB of X-RAM that the Fatal1ty provides, so the Xtreme Music would do just fine. I also don't want the front panel. But I would like to have the X-RAM just so upgrading is never an issue.

Today, while cruising through newegg, looking for a deal that would make me want to spend the extra money on the Fatal1ty just to have the X-RAM, I noticed that now there is the Fatal1ty FPS and XtremeGamer Fatal1ty. Is it me, or is the only difference between the two that the XtremeGamer doesn't have the front panel? If so, I think I may have found my compromise! I am hoping some of you can either confirm or deny what I have conjectured here based upon what little specs newegg provides for the XtremeGamer version.
ExtremeGamer and the Fatal1ty are the same card, the Fatal1ty just has the front bay,

And just so your know X-RAM only works with certain games, and I think theres only 3 games or so that handle it.. And that will probably be all.

I'm aware of the current support for it, but for the extra $20 I don't see why not. If it were like $50 I would do it. The game I do play the most is BF2, and that does utilize the X-RAM.

Yeah, it keeps the sounds out of the RAM, so you can use more on textures.

Well I went with the X-ram just for bragging rights. Hah.

If you want the X-ram and and don't care for the front bay, Go for the ExtremeGamer.

It came out a couple days after I bought my Fatality =(

There is also just the XtremeGamer which is cheaper and does have XRAM. There will be more games in the future that will use XRAM. I know BF2142 is an example of a future game. Plus the way the audio sound tracks are going we are going to need it along with how many voices in game.

Oh lol and yes I can confirm the only difference is the front panel, I own the Fatal1ty Pro.

My audio seems a bit stronger in BF2142 and its very smooth in massive explosions when many things are going on. Usually in those huge points (when someone calls an air strike and a lot of things are blowing up and tanks are firing) you get a bit of stutter due to your ram loading all that data not this guy though.
Pink, you linked to what I linked to in my first post? Was there supposed to be something new...?

I would go for the X-RAM essentially for bragging rights, as with 2GB of DDR2 800, I really don't need it.

Whats the difference between Platinum, Fatal1ty, and Elite? Just the X-RAM and the external sound connector for the Elite?

I believe this is how it goes, in order, for Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi soundcards:
XtremeMusic
Platinum = XtremeMusic + front panel
Fatal1ty XtremeGamer Pro
Fatal1ty FPS = Fatal1ty XtremeGamer Pro + front panel
Elite

Everything from the Fatal1ty XtremeGamer on down has the 64MB of X-RAM, and all of them have the same PCB and components except for the Elite, which has higher quality items on the PCB, allowing for a higher SNR and better overall audio quality because of it. Although, unless you are an audiophile, and even then, I don't see how 113dB versus 109dB will make any audible difference in a SNR. All the cards are also 7.1.

Platinum doesnt have the RAM. This package is nothing more than an extrememusic sound card with a front panel.

Newegg has a $50 rebate on it. With the rebate, it's a steal at that price.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102190

It doesnt have the breakout box port also has a sample rate of 96 vs the usual x-fi's 196. Also read a bit about it to see the differences.
I checked a little deeper which means I went to soundblaster.com and its an error, the Fatal1ty Pro is 96 not 192. All of them are 96 and none are 192.
