It should. However, be aware that if your XXX can overclock particularly good, and your new card can't, then it will down clock so that both have the same clock speeds.

No it won't. This is a misconception. The only thing that will downclock to the same bandwidth is memory because they sync frames.

They alternate renderings, so it doesn't matter if one is faster than the other.
