could you be a little more specific? Are you comparing a 4670 to a 4650?

i think all 4670s use ddr3 and all 4650s use ddr2

Not true, I know for a fact there are many 4670 DDR2 cards.

To alter the price, more than likely.

?? the first post and title sums it right

older 4670 models use DDR3 and have different clocks (like the 9600GS sp)

how do i overclock this properly with guides of 4670 being different!

You can overclock it the same as any other card, the memory doesn't change anything in that matter.
Hello.

Overclocking all video cards is a very similar process; there's only really 3 or 4 things that you can change, and there's only 3 for an ATi card.

You should use something like RivaTuner or CCC to up your core clock perhaps... 20 MHz at a time, then check for artifacts (problems caused by an unsuccessful overclock) on your screen with something like Furmark, or ATi Tool. If you are artifact free, then you can increase the core clock by another 20MHz for example. Keep doing this until you find your card's limit, then back down 20MHz to get your overclock. Then follow the same process with the memory clock.

You should also turn your graphics card's fan up to the maximum speed that you can handle to keep temperatures in order.

what is the ddr2 version clocked at?
ive got a ddr3 one and its 750/1000 stock, i can get the core up to ~850.
here is my post from the other thread

sigh i just tried to overclock my XFX 4670 and failed.... game crashes with an error from ATI and artifacting in UNIGENE heaven benchmark

clocks are 783CC 814MC

had to lower them a bit and bits when my MW2 keeps on crashing..these overclock like crap!

default = 750CC 800 MC

edit: pretty mad spending hours with benchmarking and failing afterwords, what is the best benchmark test to test artifacting/FPS?? i used Heaven benchmark to get FPS/Artifact

but someone suggested me ATI tool but it doesn't check FPS gain

o here is rep+, always increasing MY CC SLOWLY was very helpful but the reference divider was locked so i had to do it 3 at a time

Did you try the ATI auto tune function? See how high it thinks you can go.
Try furmark, let it run till the temp levels out to see how the cooler performs.
Fraps will give you a fps display in any 3d app .
Theres a heap of new benchtest/demos out that will show you any improvement.
Try the unigine tropics one too and the new dirt2 demo, all the 3dmarks, theres heaps of others.

Ati Tool scan for artifacts usually works well for myself.

Try leaving the memory clock stock and bump your core clock until it artifacts. Then you'll know for sure when the top end is before trying to OC the memory too.

1Gb of DDR2 isn't really gonna do a lot for you unless you had two cards in CF to use it all.
