Hello.

I'm looking for a new PSU and I don't know what brand to choose. Right now I'm leaning towards Corsair and its 750HX model, but then today I discovered XFX Black Edition PSUs. Mainly the 750W and the 850W - http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php...tory5&reid=165

If someone here have a XFX PSU could you please tell me how it's running and all that stuff? I can't choose between the Corsair HX models and the XFX Black Editions.

My system specs are listed down below.

Just say No

think SeaSonic, Corsair, Silverstone

in that order ....

Just my two cents though

Some beleive it makes no difference

I am not one of them .... High quality power is a must for any system being pushed to it's limits

Did you even look at the johnnyguru?

That unit would be a great unit. You are also forgetting TONS of other great manufacturers. Antec and Enermax are two HUGE ones you completely missed out on. Plus there's a lot more than that too.

EDIT:
The Antec TruePower New series are beating the Corsair units until they hit the HX850's. So if you don't need a ton of power the TruePower New 650 or 550 would get my vote

Irony is a good lesson in PSU's as well.

You won't go wrong with any of the PSU's mentioned.

@danishdove:

Honestly, if you ONLY plan on running your current sig, a good quality 400w unit would be more than enough. Even if you wanted to crossfire 5770's, a 550-650w unit would suffice EASILY.

Even more ironic, is that your PSU, if it is the ModXstream, is nothing special

OP: the XFX PSU's are good units, they are based on the older Seasonic design (can't remember for the life of me what it is) and are very efficient and stable, there were some crossload issues with the 650-watt unit, but nothing you should be worried about, I am no expert in PSU's and dont pretend to be

Look at the Antec TruePower new series, great PSU's for the money

SeaSonic makes many brands to customer specification ... not theirs

Johnny Guru mean nothing to me, and IMO is up there with Fuddzilla

This is just my opinion. Did not ask or want your praise or critisim.

Simply trying to help the OP out with my outlook on thing from my exsperience

There are many and he will get the information and use it to make a decision

I have real worl exprience with the 3 brands I recommended as solid units.

I have never had the one in question so am not able to reccomend this unit.

Are you even reading this thread at all? It states RIGHT IN THE REVIEW that the XFX 850w unit is Seasonic's own unit, just with an XFX box on it. Here, let me quote it for you again....

And you are posting incorrect information. A lot of companies BUY Seasonic units, and just put their own box over the top. The internals are always the same, hence why we use johnnyguru to show us what's on the inside.

I'm kind of curious to know this too. Since his "emailer" has an i7 920 and a 5850. I can't IMAGINE what kind of power he'd need for a bencher
. Also, he only has "emailer" as his ONLY sig rig. So its hard to tell really
.

EDIT:
Not to mention the water cooling and SSD's. 6GB of RAM. And all of this is on a "custom rack". He must be using the Crysis of email programs
.

Outlook is proper demanding you know

Yeah I call BS too, not only did he not have a clue what he was on about, he also contradicted himself about Seasonic.

See my edit
. Note the "custom rack" for his email rig......

EDIT:
Just in case he decides to edit his sig rig.....

LOL as if I have to come up with ecuses for you or anyone on this forum .... LOL

You think way too much of your self bro .....

But I have two

PCP&C 750 quad (Pre OCZ takeover)

TT 650 Power pack

My next PS purchase will probably be an Antec 1200 OC version

Based on teammates luck with them

and when I say SeaSonic I do appoligize

It is the Signature series I refere too (my bad)

would recommend an Antec as well, but I have no reference at the OP's watt requirments

Still refuse to rubberstamp a PS I did not use or someone I know used

And yet....the XFX is based off a Seasonic Signature series unit. Just has a different box on it. Seasonic S12D...Hello!!!??

You have listed some very nice units in that post. But you are still missing out on a TON of very good quality units. Just because you haven't personally used them, doesn't make them trash. Again...this is why we use johnnyguru
.
