I recently found these two cards going for around AUD $100 each on eBay and thought it was too good a deal to pass up. I currently have the Xonar DX paired with a set of AD700s, so my two questions are:
1 - is it even worth me upgrading?
2 - which one should I buy?
I use my rig almost exclusively for gaming using headphones (don't have the $$$ right now for a proper 7.1 surround setup) with software-emulated surround a-la Dolby Virtual Speaker, so I need good positional audio for noob pwning : P Thanks in advance for your advice!

I would go with the STX. I've heard too many people complain about driver issues with the Phoebus. I also know that Dolby headphone works well. I don't know about that Xear3d on the phoebus. They never got GX working properly on the rest of the Xonar line. I have my doubts that the xear3d stuff on the Phoebus will ever work properly.
