Which is better and why? I mainly game, so is the Xtremegamer more for me?

They both should be similar but the Xtrememusic has more features and will sound better. Basically, the Xtrememusic has everything the Xtremegamer has and a little bit more; Xtremegamer is more barebones.

They're both fully-fledged X-Fi cards so you won't run into problems with either but the Xtrememusic is more well-rounded.

I just bought an Extreme Music on Ebay from an Austin TX based company. I paid $39.99 for it, it got her to my home in the middle of Texas in 1 day, and here is the kicker......

I called Dell and ordered their four year old front panel connector to X-Fi adapter. The part number is C6371. So you can actually hook up your X-FI to standard case jacks. The part from Dell cost $1.99 plus $5.99 shipping. I ordered three so I can put one in my friend's case.

Lastly, the Extreme Music from Dell (part number #ww202) has Optical in and Out. So it is a cross between an X-fi Titanium and X-Fi Platinum PCI.

$40.00? Cant beat it........

Cheers,

Can someone tell me if it's worth getting an Xtrememusic over the Xtremegamer?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Both cards are STELLAR.............I am so glad to get the price on these, as they both sound great in Windows 7. Forget the Asus cards when you can get these two at this price......Digital in and out, front panel connectivity with the Dell adapter? easy......The Dell rep wanted the part number for the front panel adapter and that was it.....it is

C6173 Round Black Cable
I ordered more than one because of the six dollar shipping. There are many other companies that are offering "custom made" cables, but they look like crap and they dont last long.

XtremeMusic for $29.99 USD (from Creative but fulfilled by Amazon). It is B-stock (minor damage to outside of box) but everything else is good.
Come on, this is a no brainer.......These cards sound fantastic, and with the OPTICAL connection? What the heck are people waiting for? Asus?

Have you seen the size of their wee cards?

I already bought the Xtremegamer. Is it worth buying the XtremeMusic over it? I can always sell my Xtremegamer for the same amount anyway.

XtremeGamer and XtremeMusic perform exactly the same. The main difference is the XtremeGamer is low-profile, doesn't have a parallel port, and can't be modded as easily. None of these affect performance.

So I should just keep my xtremegamer? Also, the mod for the XtremeMusic, what does it do exactly?

yeah bro if you have already got an xtremegamer then personally there is absolutely no justification for going to the effort to sell it and buy an xtrememusic instead IMO. the xtremegamer is an awesome card. I know I love mine

Keep your Xtremegamer.

There are a dozen different mods but here's an example:

Okay. So basically that page says to avoid the Xtremegamer. I have both sound cards ordered at the same time. Which should I keep?

X-Fi XtremeMusic (best value)

From Duckie's link. Yay!
when posters in this thread are asking, "Which card should I keep?"

please guys, dont buy those little half-height cards. I mean look at the transitor count on the cards. Less equipment to process your sound.....and those half height cards look awful and flimsy. I would think the larger card would be more sturdy, have more capacitors to add warmth to your sound, and be more durable in a hot case. Those small cards look like a child's cheap toy.
