Heads up, schmokers: Lighting up near your computer is heresy enough that Apple says it voids your warranty should you need to bring a smoke-exposed computer in for repair.

I thought this was a little ridiculous

Hey man heads up, already been posted. Also note that if its on yahoo it probably has been posted here before yahoo posts them.
Old news, next time use the search function before you post, please.
I did search. Nothing came up. I guess I'll search harder next time
How will they know if you smoked near your Mac? does smoke really bake into the Mac casing or something?

Who knows that's the ridiculous part about it. Its up to the discretion of whoever is working on it.

Still funny but they would still service my machine...if I smoked of course.

You have never opened up a computer of a person who smokes have you? Not only can you tell by the horrible smell coming from the computer, it also cakes on tons and tons of black crap everywhere. Fans, heat sinks, motherboard, etc.

Although I do remember that thread, I do not see it in my own searches, in all fairness to the original poster. Normally they are easy to find but this one is not so you cannot blame him. You should always do the search yourself before crying foul.

Before I learned how to build PCs, I had an HP for 7-8 years and never cleaned it or took it apart. I was a heavy smoker during those years and I could not believe the amount of crap that was inside. Now, I am very well aware of what smoke leaves behind, but to see that many years of 2nd hand smoke condensed inside a little case like that, wow.
god, I can't stand when friends smoke by my computer. I've personally seen what it can do to components over time.

"If you're smoking, it better be because you're on fire."

Yea I was just giving him a heads up before he got the jackass posts. And the search function is about as useless as a pile of crap. I've never been able to find re posts. Ever.

It is not useless. It has worked every time I've needed it to except this time, which leads me to believe that the thread we are remembering no longer exists or is not in the news section. People just don't know how to use the feature properly.

Never worked for me. It works "ok" if you work on the naming for awhile. For quick check its useless.

I guess it is kinda semantics, but what they should do is claim it is not from smoking as much as it is from smokers not cleaning their PC's. I can see them having an issue if the inside looked anything like those pics regrdless of what it is from. We had a faulty oil furnace growing up and it filled anything and everything with soot. We had a PC that looked like it belonged to a smoker, but there wasn't any smoking in that house. (although I guess it is another can of worms expecting Joe Facebook to open up their PC)
I'm wondering if maryjane would be as bad as tobacco...
Someone should test this !
It isnt.

Looks like the old thread was deleted?

If computers can look that awful, imagine what your lungs would look like.
