Everywhere I have looked, has told me that I cannot sli two differed gpu's.... but, I just sli'd my msi nx8600gt oc w/ my xfx 8500gt, and got a performance boost... haha just thought I'd share
have you checked to see if they are both running at factory speeds? or are they both running at 8500GT clocks? of course you'll see gains with 8500GT SLI over 8600GT single card.. but you should run GPU-Z and check the gpu/mem clocks also.
Well, its coming up as sli disabled actually... but there was definatly an improvement in performance. How can I try to enable it? Theres nothing in nvidia control panel...

replace the 8500GT with another 8600GT.. it'll work!
EDIT: Maybe the 8500GT isn't so useless after all. You could probably offload CUDA/PhysX to the 8500GT, to free up the 8600GT to render graphics only - this would amount to a "considerable" framerate difference in games that use PhysX ppu.

you cant enable SLI with those cards, has got to be 2 identical GPU's. Isnt CUDA/Physx only available on 9 series cards? because My XFX8600GT wont do CUDA/Physx.

Possible exceptions include the 9600gso->8800gs bios flash and PhysX. Otherwise, you shouldn't be able to use two cards (outside of Sli of course).

PhysX works with 8-series and up. Probably just need new drivers.
