I had just built my new system and had ran into a road block. My GFX card was bad and causing problems. I finally got a replacement today and she is FINALLY working. Now I get to see what all is talked about concerning the 3700 San Diego. I cant wait to start OC'ing it! I built this based upon all of your threads and praises for the sandy. Thanks!!

I am glad that my mobo wasn't bad, this Asus is working quite well!

Thanks again!

This level of OC'ing is new to me. I have never had so many options before. When I do this, do I leave my multiplier the same and just raise the FSB? I would like to get 2.8GHz of her, I only have air cooling. I think my ram my hinder me though. It's really good ram but it is PC3200. When I had it in my XP system, I could only go about 230MHz but I hadn't tried loosening the timmings. Could someone break down the ram timmings for me. Right now my ram is 2-3-2-5 2T. If had raise the numbers would that make the ram slower and is it better to keep you numbers low?

One more question! What would be an ideal setting for me to get 2.8GHz? I know that all systems are different and something that works on one may not work on another. It would just give me something to go by. Ex. ?FSB + ?HT + volts + Ram timmings =2.8GHz

Thanks!
255x11 will get you 2805 . @ that speed i didnt have to add much vcore to mine 1.425 was all. Use a 4x HTT 4X255=1020 . I did have to raise my ram volts thou , but your mem is better than mine . The lower the ram timming the better , but the higher speeds will make up for any of the looser timings . Id prolly try 3.4.4.8 2t @250 and test from there . Im sure you will be able to tighten them up after you do some prime runs.
If you want to run lower timmings 2.3.3.6 1T you can run divider . The 333 divider should put you memory down to around 208mhz . Good luck!

Thanks!

It took awhile for me to use it. I was tired of just looking at it while my GFX card was being replaced. LOL

Cool! I will definetly read up!
Thanks!

In that thread it says that they are using bios 1011, I have 1009. Is there a big difference in bios versions? I have to say that I have never flashed a bios before. There are like 3 options to do it. Which is best since my OS is allready installed?

As we speak I am sitting at 30 celcius idle. What are common heat increases with OC'ing the 3700?

Glad it was not your Asus after all. See and you wanted to ditch and run to DFI. Got my new Asus installed today...lot's of new tweaks to play with. Good luck with the OC and you will really like that SD.

depends on the cooler and the vcore...

When I start OC'ing and it wont boot because it didn't like my settings, is there a way to reset the bios without opening it up and doing it manually?

you dont need to clear it just enter the bios with the del and change what ever caused the no boot and try again.

OK thats cool!

The only other PC that I have overclocked was an Athlon XP system. Sometimes after making changes to the bios and restarting, it wouldn't post, just a black screen. Then I would have to reset the cmos and start over. If these boards aren't like that then I will be very happy!

Well I started with the stock 200FSB and increased 10 at a time all the way to 255 and she is running stable at 2810MHz and still 30 celcius idle. I cant believe how easy it was to get there, no hiccups at all. I didn't have to touch my ram volts at all and my timmings are still 2-3-2-5.

Thank you Rukkee!
It was easy to go by that recommendation, I am tempted to push her farther seince it went so easy to 2.8GHz. I am running OCCT as we speak and I am 30% through with no problems. I LOVE THIS CPU!!!!!

I am so excited!

Thanks for the help!
