Sup guys! So i am currently in the hunt for a new not crappy headset. I currently have TB x11s which arent good to begin with, but there also 3 years old and after chewing on the cable for awhile i get occasional popping XD. My mobo is a p8z77-v lk with onboard audio. First thing i want to say is please no 'just get a better sound card comments'. My birthday is coming up, yay

, so if i do have enough money and i dont waste it all on stupid crap ;p then i will definately be getting a soundcard, but for now im focusing on a headset. Soundcard recs are welcome tho! preferable for under 50 dollars. Mainly im asking for headsets tho as the ocn thread on soundcards is fine

First il list my criteria:

I have a farely small head so huge headsets wouldnt be preferable.
Well built and can take some throwing around.
preferably black, white, or blue but other colors are ok
Good mic for voip even though i do have a blue snowflake
would be nice if i can use them on the go with my phone or ipod for music
also an avid music listener mainly techno so bass is important
mic to be either detachable or easy to move out of the way when not in use AKA most of the time most likely
unidirectional mic preferable
WIRED none of that wirelss crappity crap
Don't mind flashiness and vibrant/not maintstream coloring.
Nice LONG cord that doesnt break easy
not turtle beach
AAAAANDDD THE BUDGet... hopefully under 150 us dollars. Would really really really prefer under 120 but then again, with electronics you get what you pay for.

And here is the list of the headsets i was/am looking into:
Steelseries Siberia v2 purples
Razer carcharias
razer kraken
CM Pulse-r (was almost sure on these but been seeing some rather negative reviews)

Thanks for any help with this guys! I've been looking for awhile but i am an INCREDIBLY indecisive person. Currently working on that with my therapist lol but still it's still there, so i ask for help alot from friends and on forums before i buy anything. Thanks!

The thing is that no one is going to recommend soundcard when you are getting a headset. That is because in reality 80$ headsets are 40$ headphones with a bad/"ok" mic.
Xonar DGX is the only card I can recommend.
Example: Siberia v2 costs 60-80€, but you can get Superlux HD681Evo for 28€ that has better SQ and very good soundstage (=good for gaming). Depending on how good mic you want, you could go with 10€ zalman clip-on or 40€ condenser mic like Samson Go Mic

If you absolutely want a headset, I guess Siberia is fine. Or Beyerdynamic MMX2 (I have it).

Razer carcharias is a pretty terrible headset, had one a few years ago and it died on me within 3 months and the mic quality was horrible. siberias or kraken will probably be the most comfortable out of the ones on your list but the sound quality on them like all headsets are meh. (had siberias v1s and v2s, theyre pretty comfortable)

Thanks! After hearing so much about how headsets are a rip off i think ive changed my mind. I'l update my initial thread post for newer viewers but knowing that and my price range and wants what would you rec? If i get further into streaming and need two mics il just get a snowballa nd use my snowflake for voip.

*edit* After some reading ive decided to go the headphone route. Since i already have an external mic, i really don't need the headset mic. So recs on headphones anyone?

100$ AD700 is good for gaming but very bass light. Just pick whatever you like from the recommended audio sticky.

Yup +1 on the ****ty Razer Crapcharias terrible mic quality. Had to boost mine to the max in Windows which resulted in a huge amount of static just to get people to hear me... to the point where people would rather me type in chat ... And then over a few months it died outright lol. The plus side is I liked the braided cable and it was actually comfortable. Then again me wearing earbuds and screaming into the empty air in front of me would have been just as comfortable and accomplished the same level of microphone capability

After a bad razer keyboard, bad razer headset and a naga that died on me... I'm done with Razer.
