GigaByte - Performance Enhance ?????

What should this be set at?
I found the below three topics about it and they seem to suggest Standard or Turbo.
My system won't boot with Extreme.

-Standard = Lets system operate at its basic performance level.
-Turbo = Lets system operate at its good performance level (default)
-Extreme = Lets system operate at its best performance level.

use turbo thats the standard setting, thats what i use on my gigabyte board downstairs. The other two settings are unstalbe

yeah, i have always been curious about that too, mine is set at turbo right now, ive got a decent overclock on my i7@3.8. Does this have more to do with memory than CPU??

it adjusts the performance level on the ram, what it will set it to depends upon the ram quality, the fsb and ram timings you have it set too.

Hi,

to anybody who this concerns, Performance enhance in Gigabyte boards doesnt relate to ram overclock, or not something like that-

IF You are overclocking, as i am..

changing performance enhance from Norm. to turbo / extreme, will unlock fsb wall, how do you know when youve hit this wall,, benchmarking-benchmarking,,
i hit my fsb wall at 416, anything beyond that even 500 fsb, will show you a huge drop in ram ( specific: large ram allocate reading/writing) speed.

Performance enhance Is something to do with northbride, and fsb channels wich are connected to ram directly.

so fsb can run in even in 500 but if the wall is in somewhere lower, 500 doesnt give anything to performance unfortunately...

i would suggest, benchmarking in different fsb levels, 400,, 416

,, 430 etc. try to leave the ram mhz at near same frequencys as possible...

ahh forgot to add,, performance enhance will unlock fsb frequency to higher mhz... if needed. i think this is the main purpose of this little option

The primary function of the Gigabyte Performance Enhance is controlling the Performance Level (Static tRead Value in Gigabyte boards). You should set Performance Enhance to Normal and instead control the Static tRead Value yourself. When overclocking, try from 7 and up. Lower is faster. If unstable, just increase it one step at a time.

Actually you are both wrong and right. I checked this with gigabyte. The standard, turbo and extreme settings does the following:

Standard gives the highest memory frequency but unaltered timing values.

Turbo gives a balance between frequency increase and lower timings.

Extreme gives the lowest possible settings for timing but may actually result in a lower frequency depending on memory.

Pardon? I didn't bump it to say someone is wrong! I explained what the settings does as I have that option on my motherboard and I just got an answer for it. It is an option present in many of Gigabytes boards today and I was just trying to help.

I build non-OC systems and setting it to Standard solved lock-up issues several times. Now I know why Gigabyte boards behave instable with value rams exactly.

I know this is an old post but, THANK YOU! You have solved my instability issue. I was thinking the "extreme" setting was the standard intel extreme profile. My ram passed memtest86 for 36hrs without fault but OCCT and Prime95 continued to give me error's. So again, thank you for the info.

it should always be at turbo, idk why it would change with XMP, its not an XMP parameter.

"This feature improves memory performance and memory compatibility and features 3 modes you can choose from: Standard, Turbo and Extreme modes. Standard mode gives the highest OC clock, but with high latency. Turbo mode gives the best balance between clock speed and latency. so i have a 1600mhz ram, everything stock

extreme will lower this? or it means it will reduce oc on the ram? for people which oc the ram only

corsair vengeance 1600 i believe cannot be oced

By "lower memory clock" they simply meant that if you leave everything on auto and use "extreme" PE mode, the BIOS may decide to underclock the RAM in order to increase stability.

PS. Corsair Vengeance can be OCed, and moreover, often the results are pretty impressive with those sticks.
If I recall correctly, I was able to hit 1600Mhz CL7 with them sticks rated for 1600C9.

This guy actually helped me a bunch of times already over 3-4 years. I always tend to forget what does this setting stand for, always google it and always end up reading his answer.

Yet years later, his is the only response on this thread that is actually useful! Encourage people to answer unanswered old threads like this, otherwise just delete the unanswered thread as useless if you don't want anyone to properly answer it, it would save people like me a lot of time searching useless threads with no answer. Sunrazor saved me a lot of time.
