Any really hard single player FPS shooters?

I beat CoD MW, WaW, MW2 and Black Ops all on Veteran. The CoD games on veteran are IMO pretty hard, but I'd like something harder to challenge myself more. Anyone know of anything good?

Bad Company 2 is such an awesome game!

Sniper: Ghost Warrior on hardest difficulty is like insanely hard. Though more to do with wacky AI than true difficulty. They can spot and snipe you from like 300+ yards away with a bb gun

Perhaps try Crysis on Delta. It's pretty easy once you figure it out, but for a run through the first time, it's pretty different.

Far Cry (the first one) on it's harder difficulties will make you scream. Go ahead and try it. It was probably one of the last few truly hard FPS games.

In all seriousness, play CS: Source with real people. Depending on the server, it can get pretty difficult. Or play with bots on the hardest setting. They'll sniper-rape you like there's no tomorrow.
Yeah, I used to play CS:S a lot. Hardest bots are pretty ridiculous... and the hardest bots on Black Ops are pretty insane as well. I've played through like half of Far Cry 2 on the hardest difficulty and yeah it's pretty hard, I need to get around to beating it...

Edit: I see you said the first Far Cry. I'll need to try that one.

I agree CS:S gets crazy played with a guy you used to be in a clan for like ever and he killed me so many times. I think we played for 6 hours or so I never even shot him once!

Yeah, the first is in a class of it's own. After getting used to Crysis, it was different (I kept trying to activate the nanosuit and customize weapons!).

I played through it years ago on the "medium" difficulty (which is the second highest out of like five or six levels!) or probably one above that actually, and beat it, but it was incredibly difficult, and thinking I was better at FPS now, I tried again recently either on the hardest difficulty or one below it (I think it was the hardest). I did pretty well... until I got to that Night island level, a few levels in, and near the beginning where there's alot of guys spread out, I just couldn't do it. There's a steep jump up there in difficulty.

The game is just brutal. You will die in no time flat (think Counter-strike). There's no health regen, no absorbing fifty million bullets, literally vulnerable you versus numerous hard enemies at once, and no quick save (just checkpoints, though there is a cvar command for saving). Good luck, it is hard.

If you want a real challenge, I dare you try it and say it's easy. Anyone who finds it easy either mastered the game, or is very good at it/FPS. If I have to recommend one game on difficulty, this is truly it, no others. It's only $10 and is well worth it. Think of it as Crysis' spiritual successor, Crysis 0.5 with no nanosuit/weapon customization, a harder difficulty, a bit less open world (but still not linear), and a slightly different (but similar style and maybe better) storyline. Oh, it's probably one and a half or two times as long as well. The ending is incredibly lame and the voices/cutscenes are a bit cheesy though.

Yeah, Far Cry 1 is definitely my vote. It will probably make you wish you didn't ask for something difficult.

There was an old game called "Chaser". I remember it being pretty hard on the hardest difficulty, but that was years ago, I'm sure i was bad back then.

Doom 2 on nightmare. Seriously, it's really difficult.

You should just keep your distance with them. They will land an extremely fast and accurate flak shot on you if you're not careful, but ultimately they can be defeated. Not to mention that they have poor strategy on most maps.

Wow, I forgot about this. Doom 1 and 2 on nightmare are ridiculously insanely hard, lmao.

Lol, thanks for the idea. I'm definitely going to pick this up, I hope I can beat it!

I've heard from some people that Arma is really hard.
But I personally think it's boring.
@Zakka: Nah FEAR is not hard, the AI script was good of course, but hard? Hell no. Even a newb FPS player like me can beat this game at ease.

Scrim against good players in CSS. Bots and scrubs in public servers don't compare against a PUG or team who knows how to play together.
