I hate to say it because about 5 years ago id was my favorite developer and John Carmack was my favorite person in the game industry but these don't look that impressive to me. In fact they look a lot like Rage characters which I'll just not say anything about rather then stir people up.

Still holding out hope that Doom 4 blows me away though as these could easily be fake or just not representative of what we see when it comes out.

Well these could be NPCs. And from what I'm seeing, it's using idTech5, so it's either RAGE or Doom 4. And from what I've heard, Doom 4 is suppose to take place on Earth, so these seem more Earth-like than space, although the images of the chick look like she's wearing some space-type uniform.

Also the one guy's backpack mentions "The End is Here" and a bunch of other Doom-like references. Although a couple characters, like the old guy wearing the sweater, for sure don't fit the Doom universe.

And the pilot-looking guy does look like Danny Trejo.

I don't care how good doom 4 is. After they ripped me off (i bought rage) i will not be buying another id game.

 

If they plan to code it like Rage, they can save themselves time and money by just stopping development now.

Luckily i got rage for dirt cheap during a Steam sale. Not that bad, but they can't afford to mess up Doom. I can still pop in Ultimate Doom and have a fun romp. Quake 2, sure.

Compare that to Quake 4 and Rage....not nearly as much. Doom 3 wasn't bad either, but duct-tape mod....really?

That looks a lot more like Rage characters to me but if it is doom .... urm

It looks like they're some sort of resistance? maybe the Mars structure has a group of people who survived the previous attacks??? idk I'm not really convinced they're doom characters but if its from id it can only be Rage or Doom so maybe

I'm in the middle of playing RAGE and this is exactly what I was thinking when I first saw this. Both games are apocalypse-like titles where one takes place after such a thing, and this one is apparently taking place during one (Hell on Earth). With that being said, I can't say that I'm excited about the direction they seem to be taking this. I get the impression that these guys are, yet again, trying to spend too many resources to make a good story line when in the end it will just suck terribly. Why can't id just embrace what they are and stop trying to be like everyone else? I just want a Doom where it's just me versus all the demons Hell would dare to spawn against me! If this becomes anything like RAGE where it's more story driven and you're just on rails because of it I will just stop caring about id and their freaking id tech 5 engine.

I love Doom.... all of them... I own all of them. I started playing Doom the day it released and it was the most epic thing of its time. Doom 4 will rock no matter what.

There was an interview with Carmack a couple years ago that alluded to the fact that Doom 4 might be a reboot of Doom 2, so yeah, Hell on Earth.

They are not relevant, but Lionhead made the Fable series, and the Black & White series (I miss Black & White); then they were bought buy Microsoft Games and they screwed Lionhead up.

I'm all for it. I just hope they make the multiplayer compelling enough to hold a community this time.
