Coil whine isn't present on every card. some may have it others may not. its i guess luck of the draw?

 

Yes, that is a good point. But I just wanted to know because there will more cards with or without coil whine & i just wondered if anyones did on here!

 

Mine doesn't have any. EVGA is pretty easy with their RMA's as well, mine had some issues downclocking it got RMA'd without any hassle or going through troubleshooting crap I already did, I'm sure if your card has some coil whine they wont mind replacing it.

That's the card I have currently and the first one I had wasn't very impressive. Would downclock itself to 705 or 535 core at stock settings. Tried all the "fixes" online (kboost, upping voltage, reducing clocks, constant power mode, etc.) and nothing came of it. Got it replaced and now the core is running at 1235 and memory at 1862, pretty hefty overclock and isn't downclocking itself anymore which is nice.

 

Oh man, good job you did go for the replacement! Do you play dayZ by any chance? If you do, could you tell me what kind of framerates you're getting?

 

I have the standard EVGA GTX660 Ti (non-superclock). I do not get any coil whine with the card. My particular card is not a great overclocker, but since it is in my HTPC and it has the standard rear venting cooler I am okay with that. EVGA is a great company though, had a DOA GTX260 a long way back and they were quick to get me a new card.

I have the ftw+ 3gb model from EVGA and it does make coil whine if you push the GPU past 85% TDP.

 

I notice some whine from my Gigabyte Windforce 2x when the fan runs between 70% and 85%.. but then they always run at 100% when im gaming so its no big deal for me
