Ok guys and gals, I'm not expert on ppd's but I see a lot of threads discussing them. I like many others would like a better understanding of them and why they drop on our machines.

Remember to bench and post in nitteo's nVidia Win GPU2 ***BENCHES*** This will help me provide more accurate info.

also show your support with ENTERPRISE! Please lets all FOLD for eachother!. Lets Unite!

When your done looking over these threads, Go talk some trash here

Below will be an ever updating list of VideoCards and their average ppd. This is by no means "accurate" of everyone's cards, but give some general info and what to expect. REMEMBER this is a work in progress and I need you're PARTICIPATION to help EVERYONE. Nvidia and ATI information NEEDED

To be added later CPU ppd's. This will be a rather large list and will take some time gather the information.

Submission requirements: Things are getting a little confusing while adding PPD's, so to simplify things please submit in this format.

VideoCard(brand/core/Memory/Memory interface)=ppd
CPU(Brand)=ppd

Good idea for a thread. I would like some info on this also as I am no expert. Well to start off the conversation. Gaurdian, do you know where I can find how many point a WU a specific work unit is worth ?

Thanks.

Thanks dude. Well like I said before. If people across the board are seeing a considerable drop in there PPD then this leads me to think that Stanford have made some adjustments rather than a configuration error along the line.

It's looking that way. Plus from scanning over the F@H forums. It seems work units such as Ambercore have lower numbers.

Redid the farm. Lost a CPU in the process (not broken, but will be replaced).

Both GPUs still doing ~4,000 - ~4,500 ppd (the 480 pointers closer to 4,000ppd, and the 479 pointers closer to 4,500ppd). That's all the difference I get.

Now, my *actual* ppd has been a bit lower, but I haven't been 24/7 in a while (had a rig down at least half a day every day lately.. too much tinkering).

So right now what's folding:
- Q6600: dual SMP vmware/linux (Bal3wolf's distro)
- E6600 + 8800GTS (G80): SMP vmware/linux (Bal3wolf's distro) + GPU2
- Celeron D 356 + 8800GTS (G80): GPU2

And in the mail:
- E6550
- DFI Lanparty DK X38-T2R
- Another Tuniq Tower
- 8800GTS (G80)

So I should end up with three GPUs @ ~4,000ppd each and 5 CPU cores at ~2,000 each. Taken downtime into consideration, I'm gunning for ~20k ppd when it's all set and done.

More future plans involve figuring out how to run multiple GPUs in one board (I don't like those empty PCI-E slots), a nice board for the Opterons 8212HE's, and at least one 8800GT(S) (G92)

I know what you mean. My Expert has an extra PCI-E slot that needs to utilized! Have you checked in FaHMon to if your ppd's have dropped in the past few days? Maybe just the last few hours. Sunday-Monday I was getting 5200 or so with just my 8800GT. Now Tuesday and today I'm getting half that. I'm as Enterprise state if it's F@H themselves that have dropped the points per work unit.

I have also seen Duke mention something about sever troubles as well.

I've been noticing a variation in the PPD on the GPU client as well, but I can't pinpoint if it's something to do with the work units or my hardware because there's always an asterisk next to the PPD.

Just added an 8800GTS 640mb G80 VGA yesterday afternoon & have 2 more 8800GT 512mb to add, but only one rig to add them to since I just lost a mobo to a power surge

Each quad is running 2 instances of Windows SMP & the QX9650 & the Q6700 Machines are both running the GPU2 client.

I'm still trying to find how many points per WU. I'll put it in the original if I can find it.

I think I may reinstall my video drivers and F@H apps. I was thinking yesterday my overclocking may have messed up the clients some how.

This is a shot in the dark but you may find that the asterisk next to the PPD could mean that the specific PPD with an asterisk next to it is subject to change at anypoint...maybe. Like I say thats a shot in the dark.

They yellow up alot, although the logs say they're still going. Got the SMP up on rig 2. Still not givinng the ppd

well this is my E4500 rig folding. i think it seems kind of low. i mean 8800 GS with clocks at :648/885/1620

only getting about 3.5k PPD
Image

plus i only run it for about 8 hours a day

if i can some how gather up some more funds, i want to add a 8800 GT to that rig since it is SLI capable, i should be able to run two cards in NON SLI MODE

but i am patiently waiting for the new ATI FOLDING client to come out, so i can put the HD4850 to WORK!

The ppd issue is probably a going to be a little better,My nvidia clients are doing the 480 pt wu's now. I think just like smp you're have a good wu then one that you don't want. Ithink yesterday I did mostly the crappy work units, my pts suffered about 5000 pt hit. Only the next several days will tell.
