If you mean setting it up for gaming as in QoS, I'm not sure if that model has that feature.

And the port forwarding is used for stuff like with my Plex media server, using some remote monitoring software, etc. It's to get access to your computer from outside your network, with access granted on a special port. Nothing really to do with ping; QoS could help with ping though.

It does come with QoS.

There you go buddy, it did infact help my performance, and stopped the "connection interrupted" issues I had.

Just add those ports in there, and leave the drop down box as "Both."
