I know there's threads about this, but the other ones...well...suck.

I'm looking for a camera with good low light performance as this camera will be only used inside the house and I want to be able to put it on a tripod and aim it down facing my hands while I review products. I'd like one with a external mic if possible.

I was thinking about getting this camera http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-ELPH-300-HS/dp/B004J41T7Q/ref=sr_1_1?s=photo&ie=UTF8&qid=1375830848&sr=1-1&keywords=elph+300+hs Which is very cheap, but it's from 2011 and was wondering if any of you guys at OCN knew of a better model around the same price.

Thank you.

buy a dedicated video camera. you will get better sound and overall better more reliable quality than a cheap P&S

buy a zoom H1 or similarly cheap priced external audio recording mic attach it to a stand off camera pointed towards you. hit record on both. then clap hands. record you video. sync later in post based on audio clap... profit

my suggestion actually gives you the best quality possibly for $300 and under. i am saving you money and telling you how to get quality. if quality is not important then why did you make this thread lol

you ask for good low light performance and then post a link to a P&S camera that will not offer great low light in video mode. you realize performance in still photos does not always translate to similar performance in video mode

there is no specific camera lol

pick anything in your price range. go on amazon and sort from cheapest to most expensive and then chose either sony or canon. those will give you great quality. at the end of the day 1080p is 1080p. all the cameras have the same size sensor in your price point and will have produce the same quality video, only differences will be minor between brands

you will not be able to tell the difference unless analyzing really closely on a high end screen. for youtube a side by side will produce identical quality
