Its actualy very simple to do.

You have to buy the Xbox VGA cable and then you just plug on end into your xbox and the other into your 360.

Iv been thinking about doing this for a while to my own 360.

 

Thats what I do, although sometimes the clarity of the monitor rly makes jaggies show up all over the place.

 

I run my 360 and PS3 on my LCD monitor and the both look great. The image quality is a little better on my PS3 as I use an HDMI to DVI cable for my PS3 and a 360 to VGA cable for my 360.

There are some HDMI add on type things for the 360s that don't have the HDMI port built in that give better image quality than the standard 360 to VGA cable, But you have to use optical audio if you're monitor doesn't support HDMI.

one end in the Xbox and one in the 360? Weird

My Xbox has the HDMI port on it, so if i buy HDMI to VGA or DMI, can I stull use the regular audio cables to plug the audio in? You know, the one cable I use for my TV, i will just plug the white and red into a stereo, would that work?

yes, that will work just fine. i use this to get 5.1 sound out of my 360 while using hdmi.

 

Cool, I've been thinking of using my monitor for my 360, but haven't been sure on the quality of the picture. So just need an Xbox 360 VGA cable? No problem there, then. I've just got the core unit 360.

but if you look around online, I found one for like $10-$12. And mine works really well.

man belive me when you look at the graphics of your xbox360 on your pc monitor , you will not belive that you were playing and wating your time on a normal TV, im playing with 1280x1024 resolution, perfect

Wait a minute though, the cable on my monitor cannot be taken out though, is there like a VGA splitter, for something like this:

You can just use a KVM switch. Although you'll more than likely only be using the video you can still use it just the same.

I second that, remember it comes with a Female to Female plug so you can plug into the end of the CRT cable, if u dont have a KVM.

I have a VGA cable for my LG L246WP and it works great.

 

Just know if you do get an HDMI to DVI and your monitor is 1680x1050 that the xbox doesnt support that resolution in the options.

Just like dj I put my resolution on 1280x1024 and it looks awesome on my HP w2207

 

yeah best resolution if you dont have wide screen, eventhought there will be black line on the top and the bottom of the screen like if your watching a movie, but dont show in all games, eventhought its not so disturbing specialy if you have a 21" screen like mine

 

Sorry for the bump. I got a 32 inch HDTV, and a $30 HDMI cable. Best choice I have ever made in my life, 720p is enough to feed my eyes the candy for the next 3 years
